My New (Used) Canon Rebel XT

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

The Panasonic Lumix’s CCD just can’t match Canon’s. Of course, the prices reflect that in reverse.
More sweet shots of greenbottle flies and bumblebees after the break.

Lily with bumblebee.

Bumblebee in lily.

I judge the quality of a camera by how well it can pick up the details of greenbottle flies.

Busy as a Bee

Friday, August 14th, 2009

This bee was making no attempt to visit every single flower on this plant. It just took a random walk around and flew off.

“AAAgh, my back … it’s so itchy!”

Bees and Hastas

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Forscythia.

Moss Pink (phlox).

Yellow tulip.

Another tulip.

I don’t know the names of any of these orchids. I was too busy snapping pictures to read the little name cards they had in the garden. This one was farly large, about the size of […]

Early spring

Monday, March 13th, 2006

Here are some pictures from the sculpture garden at Pepsico’s world headquarters in Purchase, NY.

I’m not used to flowers coming up so early in the year. Who knew global warming would look so pretty.

This is Arnaldo Pomodoro’s “Triad”, probably my favorite piece in the garden.

Yard Work (bugs) Part 2

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

Next up is this bumblebee that I caught crawling into flowers.
Mmmm. Pollen.

Then, it turned and flew to another.
Mmmm. Pollenation.
