A Fairly Large Slug

This leopard slug was big.

Shiny and friendly are also words I would use to describe it.

Even though slugs are shy, I can’t imagine calling them skittish. They just don’t move fast enough to be skittish.

Did I mention that it was big? It was.

This picture is rotated… It’s actually sticking to my basement wall.

This jumping spider is missing a leg.

Although the body shape is similar, this spider is very much not a Brown Recluse. In fact, as the picture shows, it’s neither brown nor reclusive.

Pine Sawyer Beetle is Badly Camouflaged

This whitespotted pine sawyer beetle probably blends into pine bark quite well, but on a smooth green plastic lawn chair it’s hopeless.

Not to be confused with the asian longhorn beetle, which kills trees, this variety feeds on dead (or dying) trees.
