Hoverfly Cleans My Foot
Saturday, May 28th, 2011In my experience, hoverflies will become used to your presence and not fly away while you are trying to photograph them.
This one spent a few minutes licking my big toe, for whatever reason.

I found this spider in a small patch of flowers.
This one-eyed sphinx moth (smerinthus cerisyi) wasn’t able to find any nectar in my friends’ kitchen.
I’m not sure why they call it one-eyed.
This stonefly was about 3 inches long, and the design of the wings reminded me of an intricate stained glass window.
You shouldn’t let this ant help you with your porch.
I borrowed a friend’s macro lens to shoot these leafhoppers in Vermont. They are half the size of a grain of rice.
The circle of leafhopper life… eaten by a tiny spider.
This one reminds me of a box turtle.
This jumping spider was sucking the last of the juice out of a greenbottle fly when I found it.
