Building a Belt Grinder From Scratch: Part 8 – Wooden Pulley

The new VFD and 1HP motor came in, but I made a mistake about the shaft size and so I don’t have a pulley that will fit. Time to make a pulley so that I can test everything out while waiting for the proper sized pulley to arrive in the mail.

This is as simple as rotating the pulley on its axis while you run the table saw across it. If this looks dangerous, that’s because it pretty well is.

Try to keep all your fingers, by using a push stick to turn the wheel.

The result is a pretty nice looking V-shaped groove.

These are the final components to be laid out, and await wiring and tensioning work.
