Atlas Lathe Teardown and Rebuild, part 2

I’m taking apart every part of the machine and cleaning it with mineral spirits. This is the leadscrew reversing gearbox (on the right).

Underneath, it’s shiny and new!

The cross slide had been sitting for a while with the tool post attached, and there was a good bit of sawdust in the T slot.

Cleaned up nicely.

The cross slide ways were more dirty than rusted. I will need to buy or build a replacement handle.

These, too, cleaned up to reveal most of the original paint.

This dingy piece held the motor assembly.
